He may seem stiff, come up short, refuse correct leads, or just seem irritable and cranky. Chances are good he would benefit from a massage. Also, unless you are very experienced, its very important for the rider of a sport horse to receive regular riding lessons....most instructors have a keen eye and can pick up on potential problems long before they become serious. ...Make every effort to be there [at the massage] so the therapist can give you some homework....You will be amazed at the good you can do for your horse by spending the extra few minutes a day massaging him and performing necessary stretches, etc. The horse knows you...best and will trust what you are doing to and for him.
