How many of us never fully engage in a task for God, but instead - TopicsExpress

How many of us never fully engage in a task for God, but instead get involved once and move on? Does working in a food kitchen once inspire someone to give their life completely to God? Does teaching a Sabbath school class on one occasion form the connection needed to bring a deep sense of desire to learn more? What does only going on a mission trip once to build a church do for the potential members of the new house of worship? What if God treated your training in the same way? If He gave you a spark of courage to stand up front and teach, what would happen if He decided to move onto another area? How long would that spark last and what would be the results of its existence? Each of us is called to an area where we can help grow the kingdom of God. Each of us is handed a bit of responsibility and to say that you performed the task once and thats enough feels like youre trying to mark off your checklist. Why didnt you continue your effort in that area? Was the first time a rough experience? Were the results you expected out of reach given your current level of experience? Not every task performed for the glory of Christ will yield a deep connection or a fulfilling sense of accomplishment on the first try. Like starting a fire, you have to start out small. The large logs that bring the steady warmth arent the first ones to be placed on the fire, but instead the smaller sticks and grass are used to grow the spark into a small flame. In the same way, we must allow God to build up our expertise over time. We must be patient in forming the relationship connections so that the layers of protection can slowly come down, revealing the deep trust that allows God to touch the hearts of those seeking the truth. God is the one that gives us strength. He is the one that calls us out and gives us our purpose in life. By following His desire for our life, we gain the confidence to know that He is standing right beside us, empowering us, and backing us up when life throws you a curve ball. Our trust in the Lord doesnt happen overnight, but instead builds up over time as we give Him a little bit more of ourselves. Witness how His hands of protection care for our hearts. Watch how God develops in us the skills we need to serve His kingdom. Be patient and be faithful. Commit yourself for the long term to serve and the great things God accomplishes through you will bring His countless blessings upon you and the lives youre able to touch. - Thoughts from Psalm 138
