How many things are wrong with this video? 1. Dog in background is showing stressed behavior-- averted eyes, head tilt to the side-- in dog language this means I ignore you because I dont want confrontation but it also means if you come into my space I may defend my resource. 2. Shepherd is tolerant (but for how long?) 3. Child is face level and body position is BETWEEN two dogs, one who is already stressed (beagle) and the other who may be becoming stressed (Shep). 4. Dog food has been known to be contaminated with salmonella, among a host of other possibly harmful agents, (remember dogs stomachs can take a plethora of stuff that would have us at the ER) 5. Shep is NOT in a position to share Dogs dont SHARE resources! By dragging the bowl back, the dog is claiming the resource, setting the kid up for a bite. Dogs handle resources TWO WAYS, they relinquish it, or they claim it. Simple. This dog is clearly stating he will do what he has to do to keep his resource. That is why food aggressive dogs are so hard to break of the habit. What follows what you see in the video is usually rapid and to the non dog person gave no warning But I see a warning, plain and clear. This dog is saying THIS IS MINE And the owners will say He attacked for no reason, he never did THAT before!
