How much does it impact a womans sense of Self and confidence in her pregnancy, labor, birth, and postpartum period (including breastfeeding), if she is not exposed to images that look like her and those she surrounds herself with? For example: if a Black mother rarely see pictures of Black homebirths, how likely is it that shell want a homebirth herself? If a Hispanic mother rarely sees pictures/images of breastfeeding, how likely is it that shell want to breastfeed herself? If an Asian woman never sees positive pictures/images of doulas at birth, how likely is she to want a doula at her own birth?
