How much time do you spend each week exercising? How about getting dressed and ready every day? We are consciously aware of how our bodies look but we seldom focus on how we really feel inside. On the outside, we could be preaching peace, love and happiness, and have a super buff bod, but what’s the atmosphere like inside your body? Be honest. Do you suppress any negativity, hostility or even hatred? The Bible says “If a house is divided against itself, that house cannot stand.” How can we expect to live fully, completely and joyfully if we are not truly in line with what we say, do and feel - if we are a house divided? It’s not enough that we are outwardly smiling and helpful to others if we push down feelings of animosity. While tough to accomplish, I know, working on how we feel internally will help how we feel externally. I promise. One way to start is by meditating. Don’t roll your eyes. Try it, if you haven’t already. Like prayer, everyone does it differently, and that’s ok. Sit someplace comfortable, without distractions and close your eyes. It’s hard to calm a racing heart and mind, but try to focus on your breath. Start with two minutes and work your way up to five or 10. Research shows that meditation can relieve feelings of anxiety, reduce blood pressure and help with depression. Don’t knock it til you try it!
