How nice would it be if at the Congressional Black Caucus party, I - TopicsExpress

How nice would it be if at the Congressional Black Caucus party, I mean conference, next week this language, along with a plan of action, was the theme for ALL discussions; the power of the Black vote and What We want in exchange for that vote. How nice would that be? Democrats STILL in 2014 cannot win a national election without the Black vote. And if we bothered to show up and honor the struggle of those who came before us who died and fought for our right to vote, we could probably determine the outcome of many a local election as well. If only WE believed and did not wait for ANY political party to validate US. We could be a powerful force with which to reckon. If Only... STILL in 2014 as Brotha Malcolm X told us in the 60s, we are political chumps who demand nothing for our loyalty... WHEN will we get it? He gave this speech some 50 years ago... So WHAT is our excuse? No really, I forget... Tired of hearing the same ole responses to the same age old message. So as some of you head to DC all decked out in your Sundays finest to attend caucus activities next week, MAKE SOME NOISE! Remind them of their legacy and their purpose. Remind them of our needs. Demand that they do better and get back to the basics of looking out for the best interests of not only their personal village but the village as a whole, the village that repeatedly puts them in office!!! No parties. No fashion shows. Prayer Breakfasts ONLY if they have a purpose, a plan, a call for action. Workshops that require engagement, follow up. RESULTS! Remind them that they paved the way for others, who mimicked their strategies well, but now somehow they/we/Black politicians, have lost their/our way... Shameful! So WHY are we having parties and getting dressed up? No really, I forget... WAKE UP BLACK PEOPLE, WAKE UP!!!
