How often should you change the oil in your car? If you guessed - TopicsExpress

How often should you change the oil in your car? If you guessed every 3,000 miles – you are mistaken. According an article in Westways Magazine March/April 2014 issue For many years, the common wisdom has been to change your car’s oil every 3,000 miles. While it used to be true, that advice is severely outdated according to the Steve Mazor, manager of the Automotive Research Center for Automobile Association of America (AAA). While changing oil every 3,000 miles won’t hurt your car – it won’t do it any good either and it will cost you a lot more money over time. Newer cars now have oil-change monitors – and if you have one that should be what you go by. If not, check your owner’s manual and go by that. Most car manufacturer’s recommend change intervals between 5,000 – 10,000 miles. Engineering advances in engines as well as improvements in oil technology – just in the last five years – allows oil to work well for a long time. WHAT DO YOU THINK?!? SOUND CRAZY? John uses Amsoil... its designed to be changed annually (or a certain number of miles... WAY more than 3,000) If youre a mechanic... PLEASE chime in to let us know YOUR thoughts! Will this void a warranty?
