How often we forget that we live by the grace and mercy of God. - TopicsExpress

How often we forget that we live by the grace and mercy of God. Except for that grace and mercy, I would not be writing this post tonight. If you are facing difficult circumstances, please remember that His grace is sufficient for you. Regardless of what you may have done and/or the consequences of that, you will find His mercies are everlasting. In case you are new or even just uninformed, let me help you understand that grace is unmerited favor. It is when we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. He has given us standing before God in spite of the fact there is nothing we have ever done, nothing we are doing now and nothing of which we shall ever be capable of doing that merits that standing. It is a granted standing not based on our connection to our birth parents, our culture, our social standing, our good deeds, our education, our intelligence, our kindness or generosity, our values, our behavior, our beliefs, our motives. It is because of His proactive love toward us that such standing has been granted. It is based not on our good works, but on His initiative and His sacrifice alone. Gods mercy, on the other hand is illustrated by where we have done something violating any of Gods precepts and instead of making us pay for what we did, He demonstrates His mercy toward us by choosing to not give us what we deserve, not exacting justice on us, not making us pay for our sins, but taking that payment upon His Sons sacrifice for us - He suffers that we might be free from suffering. God has laid the iniquity of all our sins on Him. His mercy is where He gives us what we need, not what we deserve. The words of the old song express it well. I owed a debt I could not pay, He paid a debt He did not owe. God was gracious to me this afternoon. He spared me. Did I deserve it? No, I did not. Have I earned it? No I have not. Do I have the capability to repay Him? No, I do not. Such love, such wondrous love... Therefore, it is with extreme gratitude that I write of His grace and His mercy tonight. You see, Im a recipient of both... Blessings to all of you... May you know Him, too...
