How people can be ignorant enough to say someone suffering with depression and killing themselves is selfish, cowardly etc is beyond me! Ive never suffered with depression and hope I never do but I know a few people who have and still are going through it and theyre some if the bravest people I know x I can not imagine what its like to battle with yourself in your own head and never know if youll come out of the otherside. Its a scary thought. Depression is not something that can be switched off and its not something people can just get over. Its a mental illness. Sufferers cant control the thoughts and feelings it brings with it. Its not selfish for someone to want a way out of it. It doesnt matter if theyre rich and famous, the average working man with an average life or a homeless person living on the street. Depression is depression.........its not better or easier to deal with based in your job, wealth and living arrangement........ People can say Im getting on my soapbox or I dont understand and yes I dont understand and Im lucky to have never experienced it but this is my experience based on those I know who do suffer with it and I feel very strongly about the subject. Especially when ignorant people think its OK to call people a coward or selfish just because they couldnt see any other way out............
