How politicians expects us to boycott Generations when its in climax is beyond human comprehension. How can we be expected to boycott a soapie in climax mara?? We shouldnt boycott Generations and be in solidarity with its axed actors- when the very actors in question have the audacity to call R55 000 peanuts.They are insulting countless working class people who are but earning a shame-whose less than R3000 salaries still cant make ends meet. The arrogance of fired generations actors can be equated with the arrogance of their ex boss,Mfundi Vundla(who fired them),and what differs is that the latter,despite his manifested arrogance,doesnt call R55 000 mere peanuts(in fact he thinks it is exhorbitant),whilst the former,with their hidden arrogance,thinks R55k is nothing but peanuts that cant even feed a dog-I wonder which dog theyre referring to. Our empathies with those actors who were unlawfully fired shouldnt cloud our judgement on what is perceived arrogance.In fact their arrogance should be condemned in the harshest of terms,because as public figures,those actors are expected to uphold the principle of ubuntu which is in contravention with their R55 000 is peanuts antics.They are also expected to be at the forefront of our societys battle against gross inequality.But they seem to be perpetuating the very structural inequalities and injustices they claim to be subjected to. As the society we should be wary of such things,we should not be swayed by the popular belief that characterise such situations. But we should first be afforded our rights to watch what we want(which is Generations in this case),and not be bothered with this boycott generations antics. COSATU,please leave us alone!!
