How very sad for everyone involved in the tragic accident at the dirt race where the young racer lost his life. I saw some pretty hurtful things being said about Tony Stewart . ( I am not pro or con Stewart) I watched that video many times and did not see anything other that a very sad accident. I do not think he intentionally meant to hit that young man because the first thing I noticed watching the video was the young man had a black helmet and black racing suit on while walking / running into harms way on a dark dirt surface..the track looked wet or slippery and everyone knows it is not like racing on asphalt with it being slick and there are areas on the tracks where the light is not so good with dark areas. Everyone should remember that the racers time is a lot faster than our time while watching sitting in the stands and things happen fast with cars behind you and in front of you. As a photographer I can miss or hit a shot with the press of a finger being things happen that fast and I am standing still . I can only imagine that Tony was watching the traffic ahead or behind him and came up fast not seeing the all in black racer racer standing there then running so close to his car and its possible he even had some dirt on his face shield making visibility poor. I would think the safest thing to do with them going at such a high speed even on a caution is to stay in your car or at least next to it and not walking into the path of a high speed moving car. I never met Tony but hear he is a pretty nice guy and just dont think he would run someone over on purpose. He is going to have to live with this the rest of his life and I am sure he will have a hard time dealing with it . Very sad night for the young man and his family and for Tony and his family. Prayers for all involved.
