How will the arrival of Sanchez at Arsenal affect Podolski, - TopicsExpress

How will the arrival of Sanchez at Arsenal affect Podolski, Cazorla and Rosicky? Players who could find themselves in the Arsenal fringes next season by SE Alexis Sanchez moving from Nou Camp to the Emirates could bring about colossal changes in the way Arsenal setup this upcoming season. The Chilean can play as a right-winger, left-winger and even up top as the central striker. The problem is that the likes of Podolski, Santi Cazorla and Theo Walcott play in a similar position, with attributes akin to Sanchez’. And, with Mesut Ozil a certainty to play in his preferred role at No.10, Arsene Wenger might have a couple of very important team selections to make in every game Arsenal are involved in. If Giroud continues to be Wenger’s first-choice striker and Walcott is played on the right-wing, the following players might have to miss out on starting berths: Lukas Podolski The German international, who was benched for most part of Germany’ world cup winning campaign, might have to be content with more time on the fringes, with Arsenal. Regarded primarily as a left-winger, Podolski could find himself with limited opportunities for a first team berth. Sanchez could be deployed as the left-winger, with Walcott on the right and Giroud up top, and if Wenger sticks to 4-2-3-1, Podolski will have to settle for cameo roles from the bench. Santi Cazorla The Spaniard is yet another player, who has often been played on the left wing by Wenger. It’s rare that Cazorla gets to play in his secondary positions as a No.10 or on the right wing. Cazorla’ situation is far more worrying, in fact. If Podolski misses out on starting berths himself, it would be a serious predicament for Cazorla to remain ahead of the German in the pecking order. Tomas Rosicky Rosicky, who is a squad rotation player, is the other personnel in the Arsenal setup who could find himself with very limited opportunities come the start of the new season. Albeit Rosicky gives Wenger the option of playing him on either wing, the arrival of Sanchez from Barcelona will be hazardous to his chances of getting decent playing time. However, with Arsenal competing on four fronts, the trio of Podolski, Cazorla and Rosicky will get their share of opportunities. It’s just that they will go down the pecking order, with the arrival of Sanchez.
