Howdy! This morning your fish are enjoying a little down time after a demanding past few days. They are able to use this time to sleep, go to religious services, or do anything else they might need to do. Hopefully they will take the time to call you parents to check in! Yesterday, the outfits of 1st Brigade spent some more time on the fundamentals of marching, and learning a critical skill that they will use for the rest of their Corps Career. This is known as whipping out. Whipping out is an act in which a cadet who is in a younger class formally introduces themselves to the upperclassmen. Looking each other in the eyes, and presenting a firm handshake, the cadets follow a specific sentence formula, and by the end of the event, both the under and upperclassmen know the others name, hometown, and field of study while at A&M. The real world translation of this exercise is to build confidence when meeting someone for the first time, as well as building initial trust through solid eye contact, and a firm handshake. If you are on the quad for more than a minute during the day, youll see several of these whip-outs happening. Below are some shots of Company A-2 during their whip-out party. Gig Em!
