Hows the mouth closed nose breathing going? Low carbon dioxide - TopicsExpress

Hows the mouth closed nose breathing going? Low carbon dioxide levels in the blood causes respiratory alkalosis (low ph levels) and hypocapnia. This results in contraction of the smooth muscles around the air tubes (bronchae) and small blood vessels,(capilliaries) leading to asthma in the lungs and hypertension (high blood pressure) in the arterial system. This may lead to heart attacks and strokes usually between 3 and 5 am due to many hours of panic mouth breathing in your sleep. Hypocapnia also leads to renal compensation in the kidneys, releasing bicarbonates in an attempt to restore the bodys ph to normal acidity. This has another knock on effect because this interferes with calcium deposition, producing osteoporosis in our bones...seen in 1:3 elderly women and 1:8 elderly men. We are advised to eat lots of dark green veggies to help stabilise our ph levels due to these veg/leaves being high in alkaline...this is good advice however by breathing through your nose you will also keep your ph stable..how good is that for those of you who hate the sight of broccoli which if you didnt know is highly alkaline and good for you!!
