Huge music news today. Where do I begin? 3 shows at the same time tonight that cant be missed. Important decisions to be made. I need an assistant. 10:00 Allison Wunderland at Live Oak Café: This is a rare opportunity to see this premiere Frenchman St. busker play in an actual venue. It sounds sooo much better when shes not having to fight with the noise of the brass bands and street crowd. 2:00 Erin Demastes at the Mint: Solo piano! New Orleans ultimate jazz pop electronic synth player leaves all of her fancy toys at home to deliver a stripped down solo grand piano show. 6:00 Rajasthani Gypsy Caravan at 3705 St. Claude Ave.: This traveling group of Indian musicians is complete with fire dancers, acrobats, and virtuoso players that can take you to another world. 7:00 Babal Roy at the Sandbar: This legendary tabla master made his name playing in the Miles Davis band from 1970-1975. 10:00 Gravel Sage at Circle Bar: This band was formally known as Birdfoot and is led by the lovely and talented Samantha Mullen who shows that in addition to being a great actress and burlesque dancer, she also has a set of pipes that would make any rock singer envious. The backup band is Georgi Petrov, Trey Boudreaux, Chris Guccione, and Rik Fletcher. How could you go wrong with that. 10:30 Kumasi at Blue Nile (upstairs): Not only do you get to see the best afrobeat band out there that doesnt have a Kuti family member in it, but you also get to celebrate Johnny Woodstocks birthday party. 11:00 Other Planets at Allways Lounge: This is a project Ive been dreaming about getting back together for years, and tonight it finally is. Anthony Cuccia, Rex Gregory, Will Thompson, and James Westfall. The name says it all. Spacey Brilliance!!
