Huh. I make less than $20k/yr, which is 150% the federal poverty level, and as such I am not eligible for any subsidies, financial assistance, or tax credits under Obamacare. I mean, its better than what my current coverage is, so Ill still do it, Im just sort of astonished. But then, I dont know why Im surprised; a lot of these income-based things are pretty shockingly expensive. They know precisely how little you make and figure you can lose ten percent of it and be fine, because you were already poor so whatever, I guess. Healthy NY had a $10,000 deductible and cost a full quarter of my income, which had to be under about $12k/yr to qualify. So they expected you to literally pay more than your annual income in health expenses, if you actually got sick. Being poor in this country is actually completely absurd. Im fine, I can still eat, but theres no denying, its actually an insane situation. I guess Ill double-check the rules and file an appeal, though, because according to all the calculators, I should at *least* be able to get a tax break.
