Human, wildlife interaction is always risky, and should only ever occur in passing. When people go out of their way to interact directly with animals the effects can be catastrophic - especially when dealing with large predators like bears. People may think they can interact with bears without consequence, but the bear in this video now poses a real threat to people, and as a result is in danger itself. Here are some things you should know about bears, that will help you understand why it is so important to give these animals the respect and distance they deserve: 1. Of all land animals, bears have the best sense of smell. They can smell an animal carcass up to 20 miles away. 2. When a bear learns where to get food, it’s impossible to get them to unlearn it. 3. Bears learn that people provide food when we feed them by leaving out garbage, bird seed or pet food. 4. The most common reason Fish and Wildlife officers have to euthanize bears is because the bears have been taught that people provide food. 5. Who would provide food to a bear?
