Humanity has never been a peaceful species. If we could control - TopicsExpress

Humanity has never been a peaceful species. If we could control our conceptual mind, what the Dali Lama and many others have been saying for at least the last 2500 years, might have created a formula that was workable and consistent. But we have a conceptual mind, and are aware of what is beyond our immediate needs and surroundings. So unless we are of the fortunate, with the support of the countless variations on offer from people everywhere, as the Lama is, then the ability to live in peace and happiness from the individual level, consistently, is at the mercy of the cosmos, and the cosmos is not peaceful, at least in regards to what the conceptual mind can conceive as peaceful. What is said there however: “if the individual is happier”, and “by transforming ourselves” is worth a thought. First we have to come to an understanding that we can not be individual without living an illusion. Individuality is not possible without separation, and separation - certainly in this age - is just illusion brought on by the myriads of striving wanton individuals who all end up with the same realisation: that striving just wares us out. And striving, also, has nothing to do with what is our inner being, which is without disconnection from the whole, and thus without individuality. The Dali Lama knows this. And he is privileged in such a profound way that his thoughts of happiness and peace must be far beyond the reach of the vast masses who will never know, let alone ever be able to contemplate what such privilege can bring. Thus the word transformation is the pertinent one, as happiness has been spoken of and chased for thousands of years, and as there is nothing that we can hold up to show that anything has changed, that we have changed, then we can’t say we have changed or will change, and so happiness is like the wind - it comes and then it’s gone. So can we transform, transcend to something we have arguably never been? To stand the wind when it comes, and when it’s gone, without complaint? Can grow a new brain cell, or delete one or a few - thousand. Conceptual mind is in itself the issue. And if what is beautiful is being degraded before our eyes every day, year in, year out, then our conceptual mind will have ongoing problems with this conception of happiness, if happiness is conceivably possible - and happiness and beauty without each other is an oxymoron beyond formality. So we have come to the crux of the matter. We have become too many, and there is no determining ingredient foreseeable out there to stop us, without resorting to ugliness, which is what we have been best at throughout our history, conceivably. Ah, it’s all perfectly fine. There’s nothing to worry about, never was. Nature takes its course, and always will. All we have to do if we want to enjoy life is take a step back; and, when we’ve taken a good breather, we’ll know what we can do to play our part in nature. There is no individuality in nature by the way. Nature is a beast, a whole beast, and nothing but a beast - o n e b i g b e a u t i f u l b e a s t. And it is in no hurry. It couldn’t care less. So it’s not about you, and the more you get that, the closer you’ll be with nature. And then, if you actually get that, nature will take its course and all will be happy and beautiful.
