Humans and coastlines have always gone hand in hand. We are drawn - TopicsExpress

Humans and coastlines have always gone hand in hand. We are drawn to the ocean and waterways for a multitude of reasons, and our actions over millennia have changed the biology, geology, and hydrology of the coasts. If you are in Washington, D.C. and interested in discussing how we have impacted coasts and how past decisions have influenced our present options for managing coastal systems, join Smithsonians National Museum of Natural History this Thursday at 6pm during the premiere event of the series “Anthropocene: Life in the Age of Humans. This new, after-hours series of discussions exploring human impact on the environment with scholars, artists, and others in an intimate conversational setting will continue through 2015. The first program “Coastal Legacies” features Smithsonian Environmental Research Center Deputy Director Patrick Megonigal, who will discuss sea level rise.
