Humility: Learning Removing Rights. The humble shall eat and be satisfied; those who seek the LORD will praise Him; May you live forever! Psalm 22:27 David has a tremendous heart. He was known as a man after God. Only two characters in the Bible called as pleasing in the sight of God the Father, namely David and Jesus himself. Various problems traversed by David painfully but also always full of win. The key is in humility that David had. Humility makes pleasing to our Lord. He saw people who are humble and pour blessings for them. There are some events that happened to David, where he shows humility in the problems he faced. Lets look at the story. Then someone came to preach to David, he said: The heart of Israel had inclined to Absalom. Then David said to all his servants speak there together with him in Jerusalem: Come, let us flee, because perhaps we will not escape from Absalom. Go out quickly, lest he may soon overtake us, and bring evil upon us and hit this city to the sword! 2 Samuel 15: 13-14 Absalom staged a coup to David, who was then sitting as king. As king, David did not use its power, its power, its mass and all the resources he had to fight, defeat and capture Absalom. David could have won if he uses all the strength he had at the time. But David just step aside and succumbing of Absalom. Seeing the king away from the city, the priests and the Levites also went with David carrying the ark of God. But David just told them to go back to the city. Then the king said to Zadok: Take the ark of God back to the city; if I have found favor in the eyes of the Lord, then He will bring me back, so Ill see him again, also his place. But if he says, is this: I have no pleasure in you, then Im willing, let him do to me what is good in His eyes. 2 Samuel 15: 25-26 David did not impose his own will in order that what he has can continue to be nearby. David did not feel that he has the right to bring the ark of God come along with him. David realized that everything that happens is with the permission of God. Until he could say that if God allowed him back, then he will come back and see the ark of God back. In fact, she was also able to say that if God did not allow him to come back, then that is the best God has given him. It is remarkable that the attitude shown by David. How many of us who have always wanted to impose our will so we do not get what we want. Especially if its been a long time we dreamed about and we long for. Most of us would not want to let go of what rightfully belongs to us. But David teaches us to let go of what actually is rightfully ours. It is not easy to let go of what rightfully belongs to us, what should we get and what we should achieve. But there are certain moments that did God allow so that we can learn that humility is far more important than all that we want in this world. Lets look at the events again not long after what David experienced above. When King David was up to Bahurim, get out of there one of the family of Saul; he named Shimei the son of Gera. As he approached the king, he was constantly cursing. David and all the servants of David threw the stone, even though the whole army and all the warriors walked on the left right. 2 Samuel 16: 5-6. Then said Abishai the son of Zeruiah to the king: Why does this dead dog curse my lord the king? Let me go over and cut off his head. But the king said: Have I to do with you, O children of Zeruiah? Let him be cursed! For when the Lord said to him, Curse David, who will ask: why have you done this? David also said to Abishai and to all his servants: While the biological son wants to kill me, even more so now the Benjamins! Let him and let him curse, because the LORD has spoken to him so. Perhaps the Lord will notice my affliction and the Lord grant me good instead of his curse today. 2 Samuel 16: 9-12 It is amazing the attitude shown by David when there are people who cursed and stoned him. If this is the case in today, where there are people who are directly insulting the countrys leaders and throwing hard objects, we would have been able to imagine what will happen with these people. But once again David shows that he does not use his power, position and rights as a king to arrest, punish or even kill the person lives. David understood that no everything that happened without the control of God. All that happens is Gods permission. Let us learn from the humility that is owned by David. We should not harden our hearts if there are things that happen outside of our will. Learn to give thanks for any circumstances that happen in our lives. Know that when we are oppressed and we respond with all humility, then God will see where we are. For thus saith the Almighty and the Exalted, who dwells forever and the Holy One of his name: I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the people who humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones. Isaiah 57:15 Keep our hearts not to quickly react when faced with things we do not want. Have the power of God and His peace to keep it pervades our lives. He who is the source of all that exists in this world will give us peace and strength to deal with things that are far beyond our power. Just let it go, surrender to God. Hallelujah! But people who are humble will inherit the land, and delight themselves in the abundance. Psalm 37:11. Jesus Christ bless you all, amen.
