***Humility is Submission to the Word*** March 17th, 2014 by The Vice President of The Blazers. Humility is a quality of the recreated human spirit that attracts divine favour and promotion. It’s an inner ability which enables you respond with absolute submissiveness to the Lordship of Jesus Christ through the Word of God. It is often expressed in action by the willingness to take responsibility of service to others, in loyalty to the Word. The Lord Jesus showed us the perfect example of true humility in His demonstration of total submissiveness to the will of God. Hebrews 10:7 says “Then said I, Lo, I come (in the volume of the book it is written of me,) to do thy will, O God.” The Bible shows that though He was equal with God, He made Himself of no reputation but took the form of a servant and became obedient unto death. For this reason, God exalted Him and gave Him a Name which is above every name. Philippians 2:6-9 “6Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: 7But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: 8And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. 9Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:” As Christians, we are enjoined by the Word to humble ourselves under the mighty hand of God that we might be exalted in due time (1 Peter 5:6). You are to emulate Christ’s humility in being submissive to the Word, so you’ve got to know it, and let it guide your thoughts, words, and all you do. And just as Jesus was exalted for doing the Father’s will, you too will experience promotion from glory to glory. previous post: Be Strong and Courageous Leave a comment
