Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania A Comedy than a Romedy. Why do I - TopicsExpress

Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania A Comedy than a Romedy. Why do I say so? Because, how much ever the story of the movie is romantic and the usual Bollywood storyline where the hero has to prove the girls father of why he deserves his daughter, the movie had much much more to it. It brought out various different aspects of a family, of how past affects present and most importantly, of how Not every story is a DDLJ and a little bit of fun/ laughter and the cute nature of mistakes are more romantic than those eye to eye contacts which can suck up a movie. Hence, the story and its making shall get a really good applause especially after knowing that Karan Johar made it and he dint make it look like most of his other Romantic films, which is a big thing in itself as it brings out a bit of creativity in him other than, well, other non-creative useless stupid jokes with SRK. The big ploy over here, the cast of the film. There were many actors and actresses but very few who had bigger parts and I must say, its been sometime when the entire cast of a Bollywood flick has done well. It was a good idea to show the heroine a little more manlier than the guy. Not physically. Varun Dhawan or shall I say the New-Poster boy for Romcoms? He is the upcoming Mr. Cute for all the ladies out there. Guy with a good body who acts like he cant fight anyone in the entire film yet ends up beating the shit out of everyone when it comes to the heroine. Cliched Bollywood yet the actor is buffed up for a change. Otherwise, he did really well. Much better than his recent Main Tera Hero. He showed the REAL INDIAN MAN (pun intended) who is a rock from outside but when it comes to a DDLJ or a love story, cries like an idiot. And worth the mention, Mr. Dhawan here, cant cry for Nuts. Alia Bhatt, well from a Male Persepective, I am speechless because she is pretty and hot. Otherwise, she did the Punjabi girl brilliantly. I had my assumptions but she proved them wrong with her work. Her smile is worth dying for. Siddharth Shukla was the let down of the cast. His role was perfect but this guy couldnt stop smiling and his smile wasnt something the audience had come to see. A big letdown. Ashutosh Rana, another man who cannot laugh or smile thanks to his beard but I can understand this conundrum myself. Elsewhere, he was very good. He showcased how fathers have to take decisions based on past experiences, keeping a stone on their heart, doing things they dont want to, Leaving things that arent good for them but still appease them and trying to change themselves to be a better man than being a better human. Gaurav Pandey and Sahil Vaid, whoever be the star cast, you guys were the stars of the movies. One guy with the big eyes and the other with the belly. You guys stole the show by a mile. They brought us those big smiles and laughters that could be heard over the wall. Great job by the newbies. The downside, the story got very slow at times, especially when it came near the interval, it got shit slow and yawns could be seen around. It wasnt exactly a well-balanced story and even though just 135 mins which is short for a Bollywood film, it was a little slow at times given the tempo it gave in the beginning. Location was more or less a House and one or two roads so not many comments needed. They were good. The comic dialogues were very good while the others just average. A big setback in the film were its songs. Not needed at all, put in for the sake of it and not even good enough to hear with patience. Cliched Bollywood and Johar written all over them. The movie makes sense but not entirely. Was a very unusual story and not one very believable though given that I havent even entered my twenties yet, I cant comment much on that. Overall, it was a good 1 time watch. You most definitely CANNOT think of watching it for a 2nd time. Good entertainment. 3/5 Stars. Bhai, iska toh pata nahi par mera Ling parivartan zaroor ho jaega
