Hundreds of Italians march against US satellite system A group of activists, including ‘No MUOS Mums’, occupied the high-frequency US military satellite system located on Naval Air Station Segonella. The nine activists climbed four of the 46 satellite dishes and remained atop of the system whilst police surrounded the area around the base. As protesters set up hammocks on the satellite system, supporters below marched to the site and confronted local police. The clashes were triggered by the news that cancer rates have risen exponentially among the local population since the installation of the MUOS station, due to long-term exposure to high-power transmissions.
