Hurricane Sandy was one of those life-changing events many of us - TopicsExpress

Hurricane Sandy was one of those life-changing events many of us will never forget and many others still suffer from the consequences of the horrific wind and water damage. The water came up above my door knobs and my entire first floor had to be gutted. There was no electricity for three long weeks and I lived upstairs in the bedroom with a small heater which used electricity from my neighbors generator. I remember taking very cold showers and doing my laundry in a tub outside. Id work when the sun rose and stop when it no longer provided light. I listened to a small radio and couldnt even get a signal for my cell phone. I used every towel I owned to wipe up water and bleach. I remember crying when I went to a local park and saw a golden towel in a truck full of supplies being given away. There is so much to remember by so many of us, it may be impossible to ever forget. I felt sorry for our area and at first started a video documentary of my experience, but it was the last sad video I would ever do. After the storm was over, the cleanup was done and I could celebrate Christmas in my living room with my daughter, I made a commitment to produce videos which promoted the greatness of our area -- the people, the landscape and the variety of things to do. I hope on this anniversary of Hurricane Sandy we remember how we all came together as neighbors, families, friends and even strangers. What we experienced is so minor compared to the men an women who are fighting for our freedom throughout the world. Be grateful for what you have even if its only a little. And treat each other with kindness. We are all doing the best we can. https://vimeo/100536374
