Hurt people hurt people It’s so true! People hurt people all the time! And when it happens to us we tend to want to throw ourselves a pity party right away. We begin to entertain and serve bitterness. And to justify our pain we invite others to our little party. After all, partying alone is no fun right? As we begin to partake in the booze of celebration things can turn ugly very quickly. We soon become confused and dizzy while the door to every vile thing stands wide open. Then we wake up with a huge hangover as our stomach and soul try to purge themselves of poison. We enter every room looking for a place of comfort only to find that shame has planted its ugly root of offense on every bed and couch. Day after day we get up to face those couch potatoes that just won’t seem to budge; while continuing to eat us out of house and home. Plopping ourselves down we engage in deadly snacks of offense and gossip until we become so fat with bitterness and sin we feel trapped in our own flesh—we can hardly breath! And the longer we allow our bosom buddies to stay the bigger we become until…..we are deprived of all joy. We begin to experience all kinds of ills like depression, weakness, psychotic thoughts of suicide, and our heart becomes plagued with death. NOT GOOD!! In severe pain and weakness we now find ourselves facing need of emergency care. As we repent with a 911 call, The Great Physician races to our rescue with a house call and resuscitates us with a shot of mercy! A continued prescription includes grace, comfort and love; including a diet of mercy and forgiveness. Follow up instructions include exercise of faith daily, with continued therapy of transformation by His Word and prayer. We will then progress in peace and our health will continued to be restored; both spiritually and physicallly. Be careful what you invite in when people speak all kinds of evil against you in order to offend and persecute you. Don’t become a drunkard and entertain feelings of self pity or you may die in your own sin! It may not be easy at first because of the self defense mechanism that is built into your mind; but choose to override it with love and forgiveness, and keep your joy. Don’t entertain thoughts of bitterness—FORGIVE AND MOVE ON, avoiding all forms of gossip! James 3:5 states, “The tongue is so set among our members that it defiles the whole body.” Keep regular appointments with the Great Physician and stay on your medication! My son, if your heart is wise, My heart will rejoice—indeed, I myself; yes, my inmost being will rejoice when your lips speak right things. (Prov. 23:15-16)
