I Am Curious About Obamas Immigration Speech Tonight... Contrary to the way the United States was founded, todays government operates in a somewhat different capacity. That is to say, it doesnt usually do anything grand that does not ultimately serve its self. Therefore, I cannot help but wonder why the President would be rushing to implement an Executive Order, which is nothing but a provision that carries out the effect of law without actually being a law in an effort to bypass all the legislative parts of government, to allow undocumented people to become, in essence, legal citizens. Of course, this comes as great news to the immigrants and should be considered a move of compassion since immigration was how this country came into being in the first place; but what trade-off are these immigrants going to have to make since, as they say, there is no such thing as a free lunch. The Presidents Executive Order Makes this speech by Nancy Pelosi even more interesting. She told the all Hispanic crowd, You are a very special people. You are here on a Saturday night to take responsibility for our countrys future. That makes you very, very patriotic. So, I am curious - exactly which future are they taking responsibility for? What does that even mean? I just dont get it. The President does not care enough to write an Executive Order to ban GMOs, or to bring the troops home from foreign lands, or put an end to chemical spraying and geo-engineering; but he cares so deeply for immigration that he would side-step the very structure of input and debate from Congress, the Senate and the American people? Sure, I guess. But tell me Mr. President, what ever happened to all those immigrant men, women, and children that were hauled off to those (residential centers in Texas) that are surrounded by multiple walls of barbed wire fencing, guard towers, guns and locked doors?
