I Confess, as an Native American Indian, (Shawnee, Cherokee, Ojibwa, Seminole with a smidgen of Welsh and German Heritage) I celebrate Thanksgiving. I did not do so as a child living in Michigan, but I do so now. The ORIGINAL (NDN) REAL THANKSGIVING was Celebrated after the Passamaquoddy and the Penobscot NDNs caught the Pilgrims Robbing their Hidden Food Caches. The NDNs did the NDN Thing, they held Tribal Council and decided there was only one thing to do. The Whites had nothing to Share, THEY were Ignorant of Mother Earth, Starving, no crops in Mother Earth, Ice was Freezing, so Fish was off of the Menu (for THEM) and THEY WERE BAD HUNTERS. The NDNs could have Traded the Pilgrims Food for their Smoke Poles(Guns) but this would leave the Pilgrims HELPLESS against Wolf and Grizzly Bear alike. (NDNs have NEVER practiced Gun Control, only Gun Acquisition) The NDNs could Kill the Pilgrims, but he bodies would just lay until Spring or may be eaten by the Animals,(Bait) or as tempting Meat, for them, later on in, a Severe the Winter, as Winter Goes Long. The Only Answer, was to Share their Food, with the Pilgrims. This Thanksgiving will be an NDN Thanksgiving, like ALL OF MY OTHERS. Friends, Relatives, Family, yes and Enemies, all seated around Big tables, filled with this Years Harvests Plenty, and Wild Game from Mother Earth, Toasting the Great Spirits Bounty, with Thankful Hearts and Full Bellies, Thankful that Creator has brought US together, once again, as Illness and the Years Dwindle OUR Numbers. This may well be, our Last Supper, together, for some of US, IT WILL BE. To Live for Today, and To Love for Tomorrow, is the Wisdom of a Fool, For Tomorrow is Promised to NO ONE......The Prophet, Tom Jones, Chief
