I Dont Agree With You I love the Bigredball newsletter. Heres one of this weeks articles called I Dont Agree With You We’re not all the same. We don’t have the same stories, the same history or the same journey. Therefore how we run our business, train our clients and what we are passionate about can seem to be polar opposite. It’s without doubt that we all accept or more likely celebrate diversity in life. However in business it’s easy to forget that if someone is going in a different direction to the one you are it doesn’t mean either of you are going the wrong way. In fact you can be going in opposite directions, creating opportunities and doing work that seems to be in direct conflict with one another and still be on the same side. Before you judge, criticise or think less of someone for where they are, what they believe and where they are heading just remember these things: Someone who is younger or older will have a different view of the world. When you are their age or when they are your age you may in face speak the same language (just with a 5, 10 or 20 year gap.) There will be times when you are wrong and someone else is right. Even though you are smarter, fitter, cuter and richer than them. It sucks. But it’s business. There is more than one way to skin a cat (did we actually used to say that? Wow, that doesnt have the same ring to it that it did when I was a kid) There is more than one way to peel a banana. As long as the end result works (and is safe) does it really matter what way the loo paper hangs, what colour your logo is or whatever? You’ll change your mind. Embrace this, twenty plus years in the fitness business tells me that things we did in the past would make your toes turn up in your trainers. Accepting other people’s different ideas is good practise for when you find out they’ve found out that scooting across the aerobics room floor on your ass won’t melt the fat off your butt. So moral of the story is that we can agree to disagree, even with yourself. For more BRB stories sign up to Julzs free newsletter on line.
