I GIVE AND GET . . . Psalm 41:1-3 (NLT) “Oh, the joys of those who are kind to the poor! The Lord rescues them when they are in trouble. 2 The Lord protects them and keeps them alive. He gives them prosperity in the land and rescues them from their enemies. 3 The Lord nurses them when they are sick and restores them to health.” Breakfast done and kids are on the bus, work by 9:00, laid something out for dinner tonight. . . Three meetings on the schedule today at work and still need to get that project done and to my Supervisor by 4:00 . . . After work, pick up the dry cleaning, the children from practice and what else can I fix for dinner, cut the grass, pay the bills . . . . Does any of this sound familiar? Whether you are a man or a woman, we ALL have a lot on our plates these days! There are work duties in and out of the home, family responsibilities, appointments, errands, cleaning, and so many things that can take and use all of our time and attention. Yet, The Bible tells us that there is one area of life that we should consider and that is being kind and caring to the poor or those who are helpless. I know that we all look at what we see going on in the Earth sometimes and it seems overwhelming. We may ask ourselves, “How can I make a difference in so much poverty and despair?” BUT YOU and I CAN! If we can just relieve one person’s need for just that one day, we have showed them God and His Love for that day. And God tells us that when we have done this to the least of these, we have done it unto Him! (SEE Matthew 25:34-40.) Find yourself a place to either give of your time or finances or both, that is reaching out to people who have needs. All of us together can be an Army of God to come in and rescue those in need. And The Word tells us when we care for and help the poor and helpless that God has made a promise that He will do. He will rescue you from trouble and your enemies, He will protect you and keep you alive, He will give you prosperity in the land (because He can trust you to give when He tells you to), and He will heal you and restore your health! Just say it with me, WOW! Not only does He invite you and I to minister to the ones who are in need in the World and be blessed in doing that, He wants to give us benefits on top of that! He just cannot help Himself, GOD IS A BLESSER! Church let us all take our place and be the ones who God can use! Let us truly be His Hands, His Feet, and His Body to reach a World that desperately needs God. For, through us they will see God, His Goodness, and want Him in their lives. It is OUR ASSIGNMENT Church, and OUR PLEASURE to serve. Loving and giving to the poor is a wonderful thing and everyone GIVES AND GETS, you, me, the poor, the helpless and Father God.
