I Got To Comfortable! But, I got my wake-up call praise God - TopicsExpress

I Got To Comfortable! But, I got my wake-up call praise God from whom all blessings flow! After attending the largest United Methodist Church (UMC) in Williamson County, TN. it is easy to overlook churches without adequate resources. In other words, experiencing capacious resources permits us to easily forget about those in need. Prior to attending my present church I never would have conceived becoming a walking calculator. I have become like a “mother hen” protecting her hen-house, so that my baby chicks are fed. Now, each sheet of paper means the world to me, the ink cartridges are prayed over with request to Jesus that the ink will last longer than expected. I constantly am perlustrating the paper cups in our cramped fellowship hall to the altar candles waiting to be lit each Sunday morning. I walked in a church having not lifted one finger to a pristine sanctuary expecting (never disappointed) and always unconscious of the hands behind the drawn curtains. I would like to introduce myself, I am part of the “janitorial service crew” at my present location. I serve in my church environment. I take work caps stuck in my purse each Sunday morning. A vacuum riding shot-gun from my laundry room, and bug spray for the wasp that greet us! My parishioners laugh at my sense of innocence and fear that a snake will greet me at the door. I arm myself with purchases from Home Depot that guarantees its products sufficiently scare away critters. My parishioners often state, “Pastor Drake, Home Depot saw you coming.” While other members of our small congregation do work diligently every week at the church including my husband. All of the members have earned accolades more than I ever will. When we live in so much comfort we can sometimes forget about the other half and how they are living. Leaving home one can experience poverty on their same street! “I Got too comfortable, folks.” Do we really need to leave home, our neighborhood, our city, our state to experience others in need? The question can make all the differences in the world to a dying world!!! Not able to live in a place of discomfort? I’d love to change my name to Naaman (Old Testament), because I went to the “muddy waters” and became clean. If you are afraid of discomfort and you don’t want to try it, well… This is why…Imoan
