I HAVE paid to boost posts and yknow what? That doesnt work either. Unless youre dropping money in the THOUSANDS every month, it doesnt do squat. And now they are going to further filter the reach of the unpaid posts? Unless they are boosting the reach of the $5 and $10 options, I aint gonna play this game anymore. Im tired of it. I have worked for YEARS to get a good following, to produce content, to make it relevant and worthwhile to read me, all an in effort to make sure that audience is looking for my promotional postings as well as my regular ramblings. I also promote my favorite small businesses because I love them and want to see them succeed. But I guess that wont be happening either. Not for MY lack of trying anyway. This entire thing just frustrates me. I know FB has got to make money and wants to remain free to use to the people here, but damn, after the unrelenting ads, the near-constant stream of promoted content by large companies, I already cant find the content that I actually want to see. And apparently in January it is poised to get EVEN WORSE. When I like a small business page, that means I WANT to see what they have to tell me, I WANT to be informed of their promotional content. Because I know they dont have the money for big ad buys. Because as a small business employee, I know that creating a relationship with your customers is a really important thing and social media is a big part of that. But apparently, if you want to use social media to create those relationships, you gotta pay to play. And of course, the more you pay, the more youll be seen, which penalizes the hell out of small businesses. I liked the old algorithm better. And Zuckerburg and his people made billions with THAT. How much more money do they need? And why does it have to come at the expense of small businesses and craftspeople?
