I HAVEN’T FELT THIS GOOD SINCE I was 11 years old and bought my first Sting Ray Bicycle with bright yellow Banana Seat and Chrome Sissy Bar extending well over my head with the money I made mowing yards. Must have been shortly after the movie Easy Rider because that is when Sissy Bars were sold at Kmart. When I pulled out of the drive and headed up Kelly Road I walked to school every morning, the early morning Florida summer air was sweet and the sun was hot an all of sudden the world sped up to about 12-14 mph of pure possibility at every turn. I just knew that with a little luck and three or four attempts I could catch the new girl on the block peering out the window at the Coolest Kid in Town passing by on his way to another amazing adventure. Like maybe the time about then I was out in the woods which were really just a patch of undisturbed earth between sub divisions, this kid with us at our “Fort,” stuck a lit Firecracker in a cat’s ass and it ran off and burn down nearly 20 acres… I just knew one of them rat bastards could not keep their mouth shut but believe it or not the knock at the door I dreaded for weeks never came. I did not do it mind you, but being right there I was probably in a lot of trouble….
