Internship Description: It is the primary responsibility of this internship to assist in the successful launch of the Fall fundraising event. Within the scope of this role will be to take direct and supervised action in budgeting, organizing, and executing a Fall fundraising event where attendees of an event leave with a positive experience and the Foundation has reach their projected budget and dollars raised. All duties are to be performed in accordance with departmental and property policies, practices, and procedures. Due to the non-paid nature of this program, Interns will be expected to work a minimum ten (10) hours per week. Specific Role Functions: • Assist with understanding and maintaining budgets and provide periodic progress reports to team as requested. • Assist with negotiating, tracking, and confirming food and beverage restaurateurs • Order supplies and audiovisual equipment • If applicable, ordering event signs and ensure appropriate décor (florals, linens, color schemes, etc.) to meet the theme and donor expected environment • Work in direct contact with supervisor and Advertising + PR agency • Aggressively gather and maintain event and donor attendance. • Conduct research, make site visits, and find resources to help staff make decisions about event possibilities. • Suggest and work with supervisor to create event area layouts. • Propose new ideas to improve the event planning and implementation process. • Serve as liaison with location vendor on event-related matters. • Assist with managing on-site production and clean up for event evening. • Prepare nametags, materials, notebooks, packages, gift bags, registration lists, seating cards, etc. as necessary • Coordinate appointments with vendors as necessary Learning Outcomes: • Understanding of the process and necessary steps from incubation to completion for one entire event. • Demonstrate knowledge of the skills needed to successfully conduct an event. • Ability to apply and practice important vendor/client conversations. • Manage and work within the confines of a budget and fundraising goal. • Enhance organization skills and tools for future successes in school and future career opportunities. Qualifications: • Must be a student of University of Nevada Las Vegas • Must qualify to earn university credit • Strong written and oral communication skills • Ability to demonstrate dependability and integrity • The ability to demonstrate independence in work related projects • Professional appearance and demeanor required
