I Highly Recommend This Book Right now I’m reading Mark Levin’s "The Liberty Amendments." In it he details how we, the American people, through a constitutionally provided course of action, can legally bypass congress, the president, and the judiciary to take this country back to its constitutional roots and guarantee our continued freedoms. The book offers hope. I’m willing to grab onto that hope. And I’m willing to do whatever I can to help turn things around. But I remain largely skeptical about this country’s future. It’s no longer so much a matter of whom we elect to lead us, but rather who is doing the electing. I just don’t think we have a citizenry fit for self-governance anymore. Not enough of one, anyway. Sixty years, give or take, of increasingly leftist-controlled public “education” and conservative helplessness have rendered too many Americans ignorant, slothful, dependent, despondent, diminished in cognitive abilities, delusional with undeserved self esteem, prickly with political correctness, and stuffed to the gills with ready-made opinions they think themselves clever for having. It’s not that they lack intelligence. They’re smart enough. They’re simply uninformed or misinformed and apparently incapable of seeing it. Aiding and abetting them in this is a culture that reinforces both their narcissism and their despair with an existential outlook that, while it may provide short-term affirmation, so often devolves into nihilism. Levin presents what looks to be a viable alternative to either status-quo resignation, a further slide into totalitarianism, or eventual chaos and anarchy. And he presents it just at a time when I – and a lot of others I know – had begun to think there was no alternative.
