I MUST share this story with yall! -- When I was a little girl, my Daddy would always tell me & my sister jokes. He would say to me Tammy, how do you catch a unique rabbit? I would reply, Unique upon it! He would say to my sister Sheryl Prater Weber, How do you catch a tame rabbit? She would reply The tame way. That was just the way he was, always being silly and making everyone laugh and smile. When I got married 22 years ago, my Daddy had just gotten out of the hospital the morning of my wedding. He had a major heart attach 2 weeks before my wedding day. I was so happy he was there to walk me down the isle. As we got to the end of the isle, he whispered in my ear How do you catch a unique rabbit? I replied, with tears in my eyes unique upon it. With that being said, yesterday as we were driving Chelsea to the airport, I decided that we should stop and eat something quick (I didnt want her on an airplane with an empty stomach) We decided on McDonalds! LOL yes, I STILL take my 19 year old to McDonalds! While eating, we (Me, Chelsea, Emi and Mama) were talking about how Daddy loved eating at McDonalds, how he and Mama would share fries & a milkshake! Emi had gone back up to the counter to make another food purchase, I noticed an old man in a jazzy wheelchair with a little chihuahua dog sitting in his lap. The old man looked so pitiful and my heart went out to him, thinking maybe he was homeless. I watched him as he filled his drink up and talking to himself with a smile on his face, even in his poor pitiful looking state, he still seemed to be jolly and happy. As I sat there with my family I had a feeling of sadness overtake me. I made the comment to Mama that I would love for Daddy to be there with us. As soon as those words came out of my mouth, I overheard that old man say something to Emi while she waited in line. His EXACT words to her were HOW DO YOU CATCH A UNIQUE RABBIT? before she could give him the answer he asked her HOW DO YOU CATCH A TAME RABBIT? I dropped my head in my hands and wept sitting right there in McDonalds! We were all in shock, sobbing uncontrolable, tears of happiness becasue We KNEW beyond a shadow of a doubt that God sent that old feeble man into McDonalds to let us know that Daddy really WAS there with us! I realized that the feeling I was having was NOT sadness, but instead COMFORT. I should also mention that Mama & Daddy had a little chihuahua dog when they first got married 42 years ago! By the way, the old man in the jazzy literally disappeared! We kept watching him, but NEVER saw him enter or leave the restaurant! I LOVE that my Daddy always had a sense of humor and made me smile, now that hes in Heaven....apparently he STILL does! I LOVE & miss him so much! Sorry for the long post, but I just wanted to share that precious story with yall. Alabama sings a beautiful song entitled ANGELS AMONG US.....and my Daddy is one of those angels!
