I OPEN THE FRIDGE AND I AM taken aback by what i see. I am, all of a sudden not hungry anymore. Just looking at the array of food piling inside the fridge has melted away the biting pangs of hunger i felt awhile ago. There is something that makes a human being fill full and satisfied when you have a stock of food where it can be easily reached. It is like a satisfied cat toying with a mouse. Memories of how i met Geraldine flood through my mind. I had gone to Uchumi Supermarket, Jogoo Road to exchange the six fifty cent coins i had so i could go to Kamaus shop and buy two Royco Cubes. As i ducked to hide from the girl doing a Royco Cube promotion, i bumped into Geraldine who was trying to reach the pampers that were on the top shelf. After helping her, we ended up drinking coffee at the Shekas Pub & Restaurant at the KCB Building. At that time Geraldine was so pregnant i was afraid a cup of coffee would induce a premature labor. But it didnt happen. Instead, our friendship has grown in leaps and bounds. I have also met Anyiko Owoko who presents Grapevine on KBC Channel 1 every Monday evening. And thanks to this friendship, i am about to join a rugby sevens team courtesy of Larvin Asego. How lucky can a guy be, i smile and close the refrigerator door. I head back to the kitchen where i prepare breakfast. In my initial snooping around i didnt see any evidence of Shadrack, Meshack or Abednego. But i dont let the discovery get to my head. I am, just like Usain, ready to bolt the heck out of Geraldines house should Shadrack, Meshack or Abednego come into the house laden with Johnson & Johnson Baby Powder. Aha, now i get it. What if Meshack, Shadrack and Abednego is one and the same person? What if he is the man responsible for the baby i helped birth? The kettle hisses and i reach out to switch off the cooker just before the tea spills over. I am just about to pour the tea into the sink in frustration when the kitchen door swings open and my heart skips a beat ... (CONTINUES)
