I POSTED THIS BACK IN DECEMBER BUT FEEL THE NEED TO POST IT AGAIN...ITS THAT POWERFUL.... ------------------ I post this with special permission from my 17 year old client. We I have worked for years. She has traveled an incredibly dark journey, including recovering from a eating disorder so serious it nearly took her life. Thankfully, she is now in recovery and sees life through a completely brighter lens. This is her writing....... As the first flake of snow flutters through the air, playfully floating, flitting, flurrying about with the wind until finally finding your cheek, your mind begins to wonder: shall I mourn the loss of the sun? Or shall I bask in the glory of each unique snowflake delicately falling on my nose, melting in an instant—reminding me that life is fleeting, and each moment of beauty must be treasured in the most positive of lights, for even the most dismal of clouds can produce the most fantastic, intricate sculptures of nature. In life, there will always be a reason to complain, to curse our Father with the seemingly horrendous situations bestowed upon us. However, to choose the path of negativity is to condemn the mind to a lifetime of sorrow. If there is but one lesson that I have learned in my life, it is to take the difficulties presented to me, lay them down like bricks, and methodically pave a path of strength and positivity leading to hope and happiness. I yearn for my peers to follow in my footsteps and stride down their own brick walkways, for life is much too short to dwell on the evils of the world, and it is never too late to right the wrongs of life. Even St. Augustine, a man of many sins in his early life, saw the light of God and chose to change for the better—to change his negative actions and use his newly found positivity as the pavement towards the greatness of God. It is far too easy to give up, to pity ourselves and live in a world of dread and defeat. But that is not really living. We can cry over the loss of warmth and light as the first snow begins to fall, or we can choose to dance in the purity of the lord as he welcomes a new season, knowing full well that the rays of the sun will find us once again.
