I Promise To Remember Freedom Is Not FREE! There are countless United States Marines who never returned from deployment. This is the story of one Marine who paid the ultimate price for Freedom and Liberty. United States Marine Corps Private First Class Ronnie Calvin Presley born on October 26, 1947 and worked hard as a young man trying to get his life started. He lived in Chattanooga, Tennessee growing up and was the sixth child of thirteen children - seven sisters, five brothers before his family moved to Lebanon, Tennessee. PFC Presley and his wife Donna and stepson Greg moved to Louisiana in the summer of 1967. Donna was expecting; their baby girl was born in January 1968. U. S. Marine PFC Presley took a job at a gas station and shortly after he joined the Marine Corps. Before heading to boot camp he relocated his family back to Lebanon, Tennessee. Ronnie was a kind, very handsome young man. His father and most of his brothers served in some branch of the military. He was survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Odell Presley, his wife, Donna, and his daughter, Angelia Faith, who was born while Private Presley was in California en route to Vietnam; unfortunately he never received the message that his daughter had been born. U.S. Marine Private First Class Presley was killed in action when the troop transport plane he was aboard was shot down by hostile fire near Khe Sanh, Quang Tri Province, Vietnam on March 6, 1968; and On April 24, 2003 a resolution to designate the bridge over Town Creek on U.S. 70 North By-Pass in Lebanon the Ronnie C. Presley Memorial Bridge. Thank you United States Marine PFC Ronnie Presley for your dedication to duty in ensuring Freedom and Liberty abroad. Marines stand up for those who are unable to do so for themselves. In the case of PFC Presley he stood tall for ALL! Yet another Marine honor guard for the ultimate commander in charge.
