I SUPPORT THE POLICE. In the books of many these past few weeks, freely stating that I support the police is a horrible thing to say because the police are terrible people. I should be calling them racist pigs, pussies, and wishing all sorts of nasty and colorful things on them because all the latest news reports clearly show their true colors. I cant bring myself to do that because I dont grant anyone the privilege of pulling me down into their rabbit hole of hate and rage, no matter the target. Many might well believe that this is some kind of code or not so subtle innuendo to convey my closeted negative feelings about black people. I find that to be a disappointing state of affairs given our long relationship of sorts. Not because it would hurt my feelings if people got the impression that I didnt like black people because I TOTALLY HAVE BLACK FRIENDS AND EVEN WENT TO SCHOOL WITH BLACK DUDES AND HAVE BLACK NEIGHBORS SO IM TOTALLY NOT RACIST! No. Its disappointing because some will actually believe that I feel some sort of need to mask what I really think of people and that Im actually concerned about their opinions. While so many express their disappointment in police, allow me to express my disappointment in the so many. You hold police to a higher standard than you hold yourself. Thats not acceptable.
