I Wish we could just go back to being the Portland community that nobody takes an interest in. The media was a great help for getting more people to attend the first storm clean up but now its just attracting abuse from outsiders :( something that used to be a family event every year for us that genuinely like being down chesil has made people that do not know us think wev done one beach clean and want to be famous lol! famous litter pickers so glam ,-) Nobody knew the papers would follow this, us on the island who go back generations really care about the beach, the people and the spirit and we really have fun doing beach cleans, watching storms and helping to protect each others homes. people have slated Portland for years but now they se in all the papers how close we are and the fun we have they are jealous. Portland has finally had its chance to shine :) but from a local point of view its always been the best ,-) x x x x
