I agree wholeheartedly with Aunt Audrey when she asked the questions today, how often is it that you are blessed with a pastor who can play the piano and organ so well? And how often is it that you have a pastor who can not only sing well, but who also sings professionally? She, my friends, was referring to my Pastor, Pastor Barrington H. Brennen. And then I add, which pastor promotes sharing and encourages his members to bring along small gifts or tokens to present to others during the service? Which pastor asks his members to pen sweet notes and takes them to persons incarcerated behind prison bars? I, my dear friend, am referring to my Pastor, Pastor Barrington H. Brennen. Pastor Brennen, for the past two years, has been the pastor of my church, the Centreville Seventh-day Adventist Church on 5th Terrace Centreville in Nassau, the Bahamas, the church of my birth. Many Pastors have come and gone, but there have been none quite like Pastor Brennen. Pastor, as organized as he is, has painstakingly planned each service of the church, making it so special, firstly with clusters of congregational songs sung during Divine Service, to short, sweet, practical sermons, teaching us to live in such a way that we make the gospel attractive to others. He has taught me how to love others genuinely and how to really love and live for God. And at the climax of each service, you looked forward, with great anticipation to the upcoming Sabbath, and you were never, ever disappointed. But how do you say good-bye to such a great man of God who was not only your dear pastor, but who, along with his wonderful wife, Sis. Annick, were also your friends? There is no simple way to do this. Its just as well that I viewed the service online today because I know I would have lost the battle to contain myself, as I witnessed the outpouring of love and gifts presented to this fine couple. God has truly blessed your Ministry, Pastor Brennen, as you shepherded us these past two years. My only consolation right now is knowing that our church is a great movement and nothing about it is stagnant. There are others who, like us, must hear the wonderful story of Jesus in the same unique and awesome way that only you can present it. So I bid you Gods speed. May He go with you, shining that everlasting light along your pathway. May He keep you in good health and may He crown you with goodness and honour.
