I agree with Johnny Rottens statement. The alternative to trying to change the system from within is changing it from the outside - i.e. revolution. Id rather try to make changes from the inside. Candidates are not one-dimensional. All of them have aspects I agree with more, and things that I agree with less. My effort (in the U.S.) is to vote for candidates who seem to have less of a dependency on Big Money, who show more independence from the party machine. Criteria in the U.K. may be different, but the principle is the same: try and reward those who try to do the right thing. Voting for a candidate with little or no chance is not a lost vote, especially not nowadays. Parties and pollsters look at all votes and analyze them to death. This analysis drives their assessment of what the issues are, drives their message, and in the end drives how they act. Every vote does count!
