I almost never tell poker stories because most are repetitive and stupid. With that being said: heres my poker story. Enjoy. Im playing 1/2 NL at River Rock. Im on the button with Jh Th. Two people limp in front of me and I Iimp as well, small blind folds, big blind checks. Flop Ah As 7c. Flop checks through. Turn Kh. Checks to me and I bet $5. 1 caller. River Qh. (Ding!) Guy checks to me. (Side note) Ok, so Im aware that the casino Im playing in has a weekly high hand jackpot that can pay over $1000. Seems most of the time royal flush in spades is necessary to scoop this jackpot but Ive seen royal flush hearts (2nd best) win a few times. Needless to say Im instantly pumped and hopeful that my hand will hold up over the course of this week. So after the guy checks to me I remember that theres a rule that says all hands involved in a high hand scenario most go to show down (players revealing their hands). So if I bet and he folds I wont be eligible to win the jackpot. So I quickly check behind and the other guy rolls over K rag and I show my royal flush. There are a few standard ooos and ahhhs. Then the dealer says, ok, lets see if theres $20 in the pot. Me: oh, why? The dealer tells me there needs to be at least $20 in the pot for it to be high hand jackpot eligible. Limp #1 = $2 Limp #2 = $2 Me = $2 S. Blind = $1 B. Blind = $2 Turn action = $10 Grand total = $19. Have fun juicing me.
