I along with 9 of my friends were summoned before the principal after failing the 7th mathematics exam for the 4th consecutive time. School rules permitted only 4 chances to clear it and go to 9th and we were waiting to be issued T.C.(After a prolonged struggle RTE act came only in 2010 which prevented detaining for failing in a exam). So all my eleven friends chartered out a strategy. The principal summoned us and we stood in a line before him with our heads down. He started his lecture and ended with his oft-repeated phrase ....without even this much knowledge in mathematics, you people cant even go to a shop and purchase..Forget about going to a shop, u cant even keep track of the pocket money(not to be read as black money) which ur dad gives..Can the teacher ask an even more easier question than this..and he threw the answer sheets at us.... A gap followed and we could hear water gulping sound.. And now we executed our plan..All 13 of us lifted our head and shouted in chorus Yes sir there is an easy question. For eg:- How may legs does and eight legged insect have?, How long was the ten year war fought??... And thus our movement began with a promising note and questions started pouring in. The latest addition to our list is What is the weight of a quarter-pounder hamburger...and it was so easy. The principal is being pressurized to accept our demands!!! P.S. I am still counting the number of students who were summoned by the prinicpal. so forgive the errors in numbers. And we are also trying to explain him that 7 out of every 5 (7/5) people dont understand fractions and percentages.
