I always like images of the Eskimo Nebula. This planetary nebula, also called NGC 2392, shows the end of a stars life. A star like our Sun burned up its supply of hydrogen fuel, then fuses other elements as the star grows into a red giant, swallowing up planets that orbit closer, and then sheds its outer layers. Like the beautiful image here the outer layers are thrown out into space while the red giant shrinks down to a white dwarf, a star about the size of Earth. This composite photo combines x-ray and optical images. More about this beautiful photo of the Eskimo Nebula can be found at buff.ly/1n4pUR7. The Eskimo Nebula also has names like the Clown Nebula and the Clown Face Nebula. It is located in the constellation Gemini, the Twins. ☆☾☼☽☆
