I always play music before my classes, to have a nice atmosphere in which students can relax/talk as they arrive, not unlike a club, and to provide enjoyment to me and others. Depending on the amount of time between the preceding class and the one Im starting, I may play between 4 and 8 songs, typically. I do NOT take requests, because I worked too long and too hard to become a doctoral DJ who gets to play what he wants in his own classes. I dont pay royalties, but I dont make any money doing this, and I view it as a tribute to the artists to expose students to their work. Im sometimes asked what I play...I play a wide variety of styles and artists...things I like which I think others may enjoy. I usually play clean versions of songs with profanity, but not always. I cant publish a list every day, but I do keep track.
