I am 40 – Today I officially start my 4 decade on this earth. Here are a few things that have impacted me over the years and have help defined who I am: 1. I am an unworthy, daily sinner but God shows me His grace repeatedly. 2. Philippians 4:13 – I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. 3. Yes and No are two of the most powerful words in the English Language. 4. Success is when opportunity meets preparation. 5. Perfection is not attainable but if we chase perfection we can catch excellence 6. Success is short lived and you can spend your life chasing the high 7. Failure is haunting and motivating but if learned from it can keep you running from it, thus moving forward. 8. Determination and preparation will beat talent and intelligence almost every time. 9. Don’t let anyone tell you what you are capable of accomplishing. You decide your limits. 10. God selected your parents. Respect that fact and love them for all the good things they have done for you throughout your life, because when you become a parent you understand the love of a parent and the fact that mistakes are an unavoidable human reality. 11. Parenthood is a profound privilege that will bring you to your knees in prayer and closer to God. 12. Raise the child you have not the one you want! 13. If your child does not kneel to the authority of a parent, how will that child ever kneel to God. 14. Marriage is a commitment. Once you accept that in its purest form, get ready. The love and passion that comes out of that commitment is overwhelming. Marriage will also bring you to your knees in prayer and closer to God. 15. People project themselves onto you and judge your every word and action based on the lives they have lived and what they consider right, wrong or acceptable. Remember: No one has walked in your shoes, and surround yourself with people you “really” want to know you. 16. Women can be the one the most cunning and hateful species on this earth but they can also be one the most motivational, supportive, encouraging, and loving species on this earth. Surround yourself with later. 17. You are the rule not the exception. The sooner you learn that the more enjoyable life will be! 18. First impressions are important but don’t forget that there are many layers to a person that you can only get to know over time. 19. Enjoy the small things in life. 20. Find comfort in silence, or you could find yourself being manipulated by it. 21. Listen more. 22. Learn to crave time alone with yourself….it too brings you closer to God. 23. You are loved. You are worth dying for, and He did!!!
