I am Courtney Guy and I would like your vote to become the 2014-2015 1st Year Health Sciences Anglophone Representative. Pre-university, I simultaneously captained the Improv Team and Student Ambassadors at my high school. I believe that these positions exemplify my leadership qualities, event planning experience, and dedication to my peers. I understand the importance of student-to-student communication and I would love to promote that relationship in the upcoming year. I aim to incorporate the numerous social, academic, and philanthropic opportunities available in Ottawa into additional faculty events. For instance, I am “MedHopeful” (a student seeking a career as a licensed physician) and I want to set up a program to prepare other health science “MedHopefuls” in applying to medical school. In conjunction with our faculty’s professors, alumni, and executives, I believe we can change “MedHopeful” to “MedAccepted”. I comprehend that challenges may arise when calling to attention students’ suggestions and complaints as well as informing my classmates of the opportunities available to them, but I am prepared to take on any complications associated with those responsibilities whole-heartedly.
