I am Paddy Murphy...sports writer for the Irish Times......top o the mornin to ye! Watched Kazakhstan v Switzerland Davis cup doubles today...Kazakhstan won the doubles match quite comfortably...which was no surprise as their 2 players played very well....their opponents hadnt played together before..(I dont watch tennis and dont know who any of the players are)....but anyway...I enjoyed the match and the Swiss pair had the honour of having been selected for their country so that was nice...now what were their names again? O yes....Er...some bloke called Roger Federer and the younger bloke with a funny name...er...oyes... Warwinka...that was it....still...never mind...they put up a very good show I thought...Warwinka, who is only 12 nearly got a volley in in one game, which I thought was very commendable (but unfortunately his backhand seems to be weak)....and Roger...although having a very poor forehand...and being well over 50...I think shows a lot of promise and with some hard work and if he keeps plugging away at some of the lesser tournaments could even now I reckon find himself getting through the qualifying into a big event...even winning a first round maybe!
