I am a 50 year old self employed business owner for over 23 years. Due to a car accident in 2006 I was dropped by my health insurance provider. My husbands employer offered wonderful insurance and we appreciated it until he was laid off. I did everything I could to find and obtain affordable health insurance. But with the pre-existing condition the least expensive insurance I could find was $1500 a month with a $10,000 co-pay. Also, this insurance would not cover anything they deemed pre-existing, which is the reason I needed insurance in the first place. The cost and lack of coverage made receiving care for my migraines (that often lasted over 30 days) completely out of reach. I thought health care reform was important enough to speak to Senators Mike Lee and Orin Hatch, so I made appointments with their staff, gathered and delivered petitions with thousands of signatures from other Utah citizens who wanted health care reform, held a couple of health care reform rallies and did everything I could to try to find attainable and affordable health care options. Two years ago I thought that I would be in a wheelchair by now. The pain was so challenging, I wasnt sure how I was going to make it. After 30 days of unbelievable pain and vomiting, it was all I could do to avoid thoughts of ending the pain for good by suicide. I couldnt afford the MRIs and cat scans, much less get into doctors offices to be seen, without insurance. Now I have the BEST INSURANCE I have ever had. My migraines are being treated and I literally have 4 incredible doctors who are working together to help me. I have had MRIs that revealed a bone shard near my spinal cord that could lead to death or paralysis if not addressed. I now have insurance to address it. The quality of my life has improved DRAMATICALLY! My family has their mother and wife back! I have nothing but good things to say about Obamacare. By the way, my insurance rates dropped from last year and it is my sincere hope that Obamacare survives. I dont understand why so many people are comfortable with leaving millions of tax paying Americans without healthcare. Why do they align themselves with a party that only spreads hate and lies about something that helps so many? To all my friends and leaders in Utah who call themselves Christians I have one question: What would Jesus do; heal the sick or protect the insurance companies profit margin? ksl/index.php?nid=157&sid=32360826
